Designed with features and technologies that are typically reserved for premium race wheels, Aksium delivers quality performance for everyday road riding. Features include straight-pull spokes for added strength and stiffness, and lightweight rims for a lively ride quality. The rims are now wider, which allows for increased air volume and a better fit for larger diameter tires (up to 32mm). The hubs are incredibly tough, delivering high mileage with no servicing needed. And the QRM bearings are the smoothest in the category. This all adds up to a wheelset that delivers the high-quality ride that Mavic is known for.

These are not strong wheels. Mine have to be trued on a regular basis. They seem to roll very smoothly, but are slow to get up to speed and are too heavy to be good climbers. The only pro to these wheels is their looks. They look like higher-end wheels with their aero-spokes and graphics, but don't be fooled...they are not high-end. Stay clear!!!!
I got this set as a replacement for the Alex Rims 540 that were stock on my road bike. I put about 100 miles a week onto these babies and they are very strong. I especially appreciate the amount of torque that can be applied to the rear wheel with out any give. Buy these wheels if you are an ameteur cyclist looking for high quality upgrade parts. these wheels straight up rock. They have all the technological advantages of their big brothers, the Kyrsium line, but at 1/2 the price. They arent saving much weight, but they are rock solid. One of my favorite parts about these wheels is the sound the freewheel makes when your not pedaling; a nice click similar to a Campy wheelset.
